Larry Litt and Eleanor Heartney, producers of New York’s highly acclaimed The Blame Show videos and performances since 2001, have once again created a winning format for political education through political comedy.

“Professor Progreso and the Cynical Activists Cure” is the show that examines topical political issues in a new way. At each performance the diverse cast of political improvisors present personal stories of people affected by the current administration’s legislative policies and lack of understanding of people’s needs.

A combination of Dr. Phil, Jerry Springer, Meet the Press and Bill Moyers, Professor Progreso’s no holds barbed take on corporatism, corruption, fundamentalist religion’s designs on government, social service cuts, militarism, globalism, tax cuts for the rich are a witty comment on the lives we live today. “We’re an outlet for frustration and anger as well as a motivator for political action with a good attitude,” says Litt.

Yes, there are angry audiences out there and they want to be served by more than Comedy Central’s nightly commentary. Brilliant and right on as it is. The Blame Show brings to the stage the challenges and solutions of ordinary and extraordinary people living in these authoritarian times.

The actors are often joined by audience members telling their own stories. Professor Progreso welcomes all the apathetic, alienated and anxious liberals and progressives out there to join him and the cast in curing cynicism by recharging their political activist energy.
